Brandon Sanderson, The Way of Kings

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new series from New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson.

The Way of Kings: Book One of the Stormlight Archives is the first volume of a monumental ten-volume epic fantasy saga in the tradition of The Wheel of Time, which Brandon is completing following the death of Robert Jordan in 2007.

Friday July 23rd: Steampunk Day

Tor Books has been at the forefront of the steampunk revolution since the publication of Mainspring (June 2007) and Escapement (June 2008) by Jay Lake. We’ve continued the tradition—publishing a steampunk novel or two every season including the critically acclaimed and award-winning Boneshaker by Cherie Priest.

Saturday July 24th: Gaming Day

Tor has positioned themselves as the industry leader within this burgeoning subgenre of science fiction via an expanded program of stand-alone novels that flesh out virtual worlds with original stories through partnerships with industry-leading videogame developers, established writers, and prominent gaming studios such as Bioware, Take-Two Interactive, Visceral Games, CCP Games, and Microsoft Games Studio.

This year we are pleased to host signings with Todd McFarlane of McFarlane Toys for Microsoft Games Studio & B.K. Evenson for Visceral/EA Games, author of Dead Space: Martyr, the story of the origin of “The Black Marker,” the foundation of the Church of Unitology.

This will be a limited one hour signing for the first 75 people. Todd will sign one free poster provided by Tor and one additional item (i.e. Toy or Comic). Photography allowed.

Tor will publish David’s newest novel, Out of the Dark, in October 2010.
