Quiz Alert: Get Your Booksona Here!

by a cat

Hi! You know us. We’re Tor. But who are you???

That’s what we’re wondering, and because our business is books, we want to know your booksona.

What’s a booksona? It’s you, but as a book. It’s a vibe thing.

Take this quiz and tell us what you get!

And while you’ve got books on the brain, the paperback of The Genesis of Misery by Neon Yang just released, and it’s as cool as it looks.

  1. Travis Baldree, of course, which I read l9ng before Tor got involved, and whose sequel I pre-ordered a week ago.

  2. I got Legends and Lattes. Which I’ve been meaning to read.

On the other hand, I have to complain that most of the references in the quiz were *not from books*, and in many of the questions I had to select the only one I *knew* so the results may not be as accurate as one would hope.

  3. I also landed on Legends and Lattes – which I’ve read, thoroughly enjoyed, and am looking forward to his next book.

  4. I feel like this is targeted at people who read “the hot new thing” instead of real bookworms who have a queue so long the hot new thing they are finally getting to is 3 years old. lol

    1. I feel attacked by this comment lol. I’ll have you know I put the hot new thing on the TBR list while it’s still a hot new thing……yeah that….

  5. I am in the same boat as several of the others. Could not relate to most of the choices, chose the only one I’ve ever heard of. Not very accurate if they care about really capturing my “booksona.” Maybe I’m too old to be taking these things….but as it is a marketing ploy to sell me a book I guess it doesn’t matter.

    1. I haven’t read Spring’s Arcana, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed some of Saintcrow’s other work!

  6. I got SWEEP OF STARS by Maurice Broaddus. Apparently I am caught between the hopeful future and the anchor of my past. Okay quiz.

  7. I got The Terraformers by Annalee Newitz which, although I haven’t yet read it, sounds exactly the kind of book I enjoy immensely.

  8. I protest that I could not select the anthem from Firefly as my music. But you can’t take the sky from me. I’m

  9. Having the option to fight capitalism as part of a marketing ploy wins extra points for surrealism and irony. The quiz was otherwise somewhat more confusing than entertaining. Nonetheless, I will put all of the new books on my list of things to read in three years.

  10. The Genesis of Misery by Neon Yang, i had never heard of it before but it sounds interesting.

  11. SWEEP OF STARS by Maurice Broaddus. A writer I’ve been curious about but haven’t read yet. Maybe soon.

  12. genesis of misery and mecha fiction is strangely apropos regarding my own eternal, internal dilemma lol.

  13. Sweep of stars, which is highly appropriate for its “hopeful future, anchored past” meaning. Otherwise I have no idea. Googled all the answer options like animal symbolism and personality traits to answer those. Googled characters and totally guessed and “my crush and a surprise”, lmao, I’m old and broken and I live in misery, alone, lost everyone, everywhere, everything, homeless-ish, with my books…..and my little love aka my fur baby. So, hopeful and anchored to the past, most definitely trying to be hopeful for a home and the past has me with claws out around my throat. Lol. This is fun, if only I knew more about the options to choose from. Had to try it cuz I absolutely love Tor (right now reading “The Last House On Needless Street” and ‘still’ dying over one of the top five, most awesome, disturbing, need more like it, books ever “Maeve Fly”). Glad I did this booksona quiz. Looking forward to more. Thank you Macmillan/Tor
